Valkyrie's Death

The velvet sky is lit with Devil's fire
beneath which burns a Valkyrie's pyre.
Bony fingers of sputtering, choked ash
strain skyward chasing thunder's crash.

Grass withers at the sound of fire's cackles
while flames lick sweating leather shackles.
Cloth, bone and flesh char to rotten stench
underneath a thin, dirty laced burial cinch.

Shattered armor, this broken resilient flower
Who in death doth wield the ultimate power?
No sword can penetrate through mortal wound
a Valkyr's soul departed to glory's tomb.
